Hi, my Brother and his girlfriend are getting married abroad in October. I would like to make them something to be given to them on the day. I am unable to go so I want it to be something personal from my DD's and myself. It has to be small and fairly light as needs to be packed in a suitcase.I will give it to my mum to give it to them on my behalf. Any ideas anyone. I want to plan early as these things take me forever!

My sister and her husband had a picture frame with a really wide boarder around a photo of the pair of them.

Guests then wrote a message on the boarder and the frame was all sealed up with glass etc.

They love it and have it up in thier house. It's a lovely reminder of everyone's feelings on the day.

Went to a wedding at the weekend and they'd done the same thing.

What a lovely idea, I have never seen anything like that. I wont be there on the day though so was hoping to have something made before hand for my mum to give to them on the day for us.

You could chose the frame and the photo and add your message to get everyone started....

Your Mum could give it to them to open at the beginning of the evening reception so it can be put out for everyone else to sign?

I was thinking about a guest book. I could make it then get my mum to pass it round on the day. Thanks for the ideas.

Can you sew? Really well?

This is my aunt's job, but she made us this AMAZING patchwork wall hanging/ quilt for our wedding present. She passed around a square of fabric to each guest at the wedding (this bit your mum needs to do, but all she has to carry with her is a load of fabric squares) and asked them to write some words of wisdom for married life and sign it. Back at home, she sewed over all the writing (must have taken forver, come to think of it) and incorporated all of the squares into a huge wall hanging. You obviously couldn't give it on the day, though, but it really is a gift we will treasure forever. What's more, you can give it to yyour brother and his wife in person at a later date, which would be nice too.

A lot of work though.
