Can anyone recommend a really good on-line place where I can buy wool?

Title says it all really, I just want to be able to type in the wool from my pattern and order it all on-line. I don't have a wool shop near me and the one I go to doesn't always stock exactly what I need.

I have tried googling but don't seem to be having much luck, so wonder if anyone can point me in the direction of a "one-stop shop" for all my knitting needs .

Thank you.

i found angel yarn appalling. they took my order and my money and then nothing. when i phoned up it transpired they didn't have the yarn i ordered and just hadn't bothered letting me know.

Religious thanks for the warning I will keep it in mind.

Kemps Wool Shop has really, really good prices sometimes but limited stock - lots of Sirdar, Patons and Wendy but not much else.

Angel Yarns have a pretty bad reputation.

My favourite "one-stop shop" is www.getknitted.com. Great stock, great service, you often get sweets or a free pen with your order.

Don't forget ebay too.

I like www.Kangaroo.uk.com; good service and quite a good selection of yarns.

Thanks guys - I esp like the idea of free sweets .

Will have a look.

I mainly knit toys, so lots of DK wool required, but often struggle to get the exact colours I need.

are you on ravelry?

spongebrainmaternitypants · 13/05/2009 13:03

RB, I am on ravelry yes, I joined ages ago but haven't really been back - spend too much time on MN!

i find it good when i am considering knitting something and i can look at other peoples. sometimes a really nice looking pattern produces horrid results and vice versa. it is also good for getting ideas for alternative yarns

spongebrainmaternitypants · 13/05/2009 16:15

Thanks RB, I'm hoping to get back into doing more knitting so need to cut down my MN time - will check out Ravelry!
