Can you sew patchwork on a sewing machine?

I may be being very stupid here, but I'm wondering whether it's possible to do patchwork on a sewing machine. Nothing fancy - just squares stitched together that I can then make into a quilt - but I'm struggling to work out in my head how I'd deal with corners. I might well be overthinking this, and just need to get on and have a go, but it's baffling me. Is it possible? Or am I being daft?

sorry that should have been many more

To sew squares, could you first sew long strips of the squares and then sew the strips together? Then you'd only be sewing straight lines and not around corners.

Light dawns. I couldn't work out how it would work with the corners, but I can see if you do strips it wouldn't be a problem. Marvellous. Thanks!

I haven't done this since school... but remember that an iron was really useful to have flat seams to sew. Good luck

Hi snickernack, there is a series of books (I think they're American) called "quilt in a day", they're all done by machine and even though you can't quite do them in a day they have lots of clever shortcuts. There might be a simple squares one that could help. Have a look on Amazon, I've done the Stars Across America quilt and two of the double pinwheel quilts (and I'm not a patchwork wizard!)

I only machine piece!
Corners aren't too bad - you just have to always be aware of your seam allowance so that for funkier shapes you don't sew too far - if you're looking to do much machine piecing a 1/4" foot is really helpful. As is a machine with a needle up/down - I got the worst RSI from winding the needle down to turn corners!

Have fun.
