A question about using chalks

I've decided to start using chalks. Have been debating it for ages but now have some ideas for cards and scrapbook pages so I'm just going to go for it. My question is, do you have to use a spray fixative over the chalk to stop it from smudging.

Probably a really daft question but hopefully someone out there will be able to answer it.

Thank you!

I don't personally, but I don't use them that much. I know that some people recommend using a cheap hairspray, but I would test on blank paper first just in case it marks your work!

you will need a fixative unless you want your cards to turn into big smudgy messes. You can buy special sprays but hairspray works fine according to my mum, she's an art teacher.

Hairspray does work but may not age well. Then again, I don't know how well proper fixative ages either.

Light coats are better than one heavy one.
