Help me! I need a good name for my stuff...

Hi all
I have started making funky multi-pocket bags and baby slings (to use up some of my ridiculous fabric stash) and I want to start blogging about what I'm doing and selling some of the bags and slings, maybe on ebay / etsy / folksy. But... I'm stuck for a name for my blog / myself. (Almost) all my fabric is from charity shops so I thought about 'Refabricated' but it's already used quite often - I need something more unique. I like cats and I use a leaf motif in my work quite often - any genius out there got an idea?

Why not just use your name from here? it is a good name

meridian · 14/02/2009 12:28

Refabricated makes me think Reanimated.. but that might just be me watching too many crappy zombie movies..

I would say to use your name or your handle.. I like SushiStar Crafts .. I think it would work as a blog/shop name.

lucykate · 14/02/2009 12:28

picking a name is a really tricky process, the best advice i can offer, is if this is something you want to grow and expand on in the future, chose something slightly more generalised, which allows what you do space to evolve.

and remember some of the best brand names, actually have nothing to do at all with the product, eg orange.

ChampagneAndStrawberries · 14/02/2009 13:04

"Refabricat" with a logo of an applique cat, maybe?

ChampagneAndStrawberries · 14/02/2009 13:05

Or just Fabricat

sushistar · 15/02/2009 00:13

Ohh, some talented people here - I really like Fabricat. Sushistar is ok I guess, but a bit random iykwim. Actually my name here is because my cat is called sushi, rather than that I like sushi.

Lucykate, I thought about going REALLY off the beaten track with some random word- but I thought poeple just glancing at a blog/ebayshop would be a bit put off or not know what it was about.

Any improvement on Fabricat? If not I'm off to design a logo - and maybe make a little thankyou gift for Champagne if it works out.

LeafLitter

As in litter for carrying things.
Cats have litters.
Cats chase leaves.

kickassangel · 15/02/2009 01:41

ReFab?

PortAndLemon · 15/02/2009 12:54

Leafing Through?

Fallcat is good though

sushistar · 15/02/2009 21:27

Ok, DH says he thinks fallcat is rubish :0( might just ignore him though!
Leaflitter - I can see where that's coming from but it makes me think of earwigs?

PortandLemon, I will definatly make you a gift if you assassinate fabricat! They don't even have anything LISTED on etsy!

Nostalgicat is cute, but a bit - oldeworlde! I think maybe I might go for leaflitter... I might start a thread to see what everyone thinks! THanks Drillbit

Cat-knaps (if any bags knapsack type)

LoveLeaf

Something on the theme of pods for slings? Escape pods spring to mind ... for helping you get out and about with your newborn?

Leafmotif

Or what about just Leaf?

kitbit · 24/02/2009 15:43

Leaflitter - nooo! Definitely earwigs. LeafLitter is something they sweep up in parks and it has mulch and compost underneath. ugh.

I really like sushistar actually, it's different.

VintageCarrotTop · 24/02/2009 17:13

How about, bear with me I'm just going to churn out ideas as Icome up with them:......

Kangapods or Roobags or Kangabags or Roopods - because Kangaroos have pouches, the first thing I thought of when you said you made multi pocket bags and baby slings! Oh my creative juices have stopped flowing now kids are running around like lunatics, will get back to you later x

Annabel1 · 28/02/2009 15:15

Good luck! I started making ponchos when dd small adn struggled, esp when I started looking on google - every name I thought of had been used. Found some great clothes though! Ended up using my name which when on label looked classy enough I thought!Might that work for you? Added my home town and luckily that made it better not worse!

Annabel1 · 28/02/2009 15:16

Ooh and I agree with the generalised bit - that had something to do with my choice cos then I could make other things too.

Mung · 28/02/2009 15:19

Feuiline

Feuille being French for leaf and feline/cat link.

God I am rubbish at this...can't think of a name for my own business either. I have no imagination!

mamadiva · 28/02/2009 15:26

How did you get on with this sushi?
