Crochet and knitting, where do you get your wool?

I am starting to crochet and starting to knit again but the cheapo wool I bought to practise with is a nightmare as it splits too easily (IYSWIM)
I need bright colours (to appeal to kids) and good quality, but decent prices (!) and preferably online, I can't subject any more haberdashers to the DD's...

Try Kemps Wools, their Clearance section has beautiful wool and very cheap. Also Abakhan.
