Yellowmoon.com has a lot.

We have a lovely shop near us called Range which has lots of these things, but I don't think it's a national organisation.

Niecie · 06/01/2009 20:51

You could try Baker Ross here. They do bulk buys for playgroups and schools but also stuff to use at home. There is some unusual things there too if you fancy a change or have a special project in mind (good packs for children's parties if you want to do a craft session for example)

Alternatively there are lots of childrens craft shops on eBay.

I would 2nd or 3rd ELC as they often have the arts and crafts stuff reduced. They do mail order as well.

Hulababy · 06/01/2009 20:53

The Range
Wilkinsons
Poundland et al
Online stores
Places like The Works (book places) tend to have them too

wrinklytum · 06/01/2009 20:54

Do you have a shop called "The Works" near you?We have one in our city, great for cheap books and crafty stuff.

beanieb · 06/01/2009 20:55

Wilkinsons, The Range for some and there's a place in Cardiff called the "what Shop" but am not sure if it's a national thing.

wheresthehamster · 06/01/2009 20:58

Can only repeat The Range Wilkinsons Tesco etc.
Looks like you can order on-line from The Range if you are not near one.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 06/01/2009 21:06

We've got a place called Home Bargains here (south Wales) which is great

Essie3 · 06/01/2009 21:19

Ah, IwishIwasmoreorganised we have Home Bargains in north Wales too - old Kwik Saves are turning into them!
BeforeSunrise are you intrepid? Here in SW London I know a fab fab fab craft place...but it's in Tooting Bec!! (Just outside the tube, tho!)

CrushaGrape · 07/01/2009 17:32

Essie3 do you know the name of the craft place you like in Tooting Bec? I live not for from there, and am not sure I know it.

Ta very much

3littlefrogs · 07/01/2009 17:36

If you live in NW london, tallyhoe discount has lots of stuff (N Finchley high road). All very reasonably priced.

Essie3 · 07/01/2009 17:48

OOOH, CrushaGrape - where do you live? (Oh, suppose that's quite personal but I got all excited that there was another mumsnetter in the vicinity!)

The craft superstore is the Wimbledon Sewing Machine Centre. If you know where Halfords is just by Tooting Bec Tube (on Balham High Road), then it's a block or so further down. Opposite Fitness First and KwikFit.

Now that gives you all an idea of the type of area I live in...

It's a great place. Fab selection of craft materials, fabric, haberdashery, cardmaking...name your craft. Not so great on the knitting apparently but I don't knit!

Tortington · 07/01/2009 17:49

'the works'

3littlefrogs · 07/01/2009 17:53

Also in North Finchley, "Finishing Touches" is very good for sewing/knitting. It is near the bus station at Tallyho.

Moosmummie · 09/01/2009 08:55

Range looks fab and you can shop online. They have a huge craft box thingy for £4.99 that looks good. Have ordered some for my cubs.

Moosmummie · 09/01/2009 08:57

OOh I used to live in Tooting! I lived in Chasefield Road - a few roads beind M&S. That craft place on Balham High Road is good for crafty bits of stuff - not so good for wool though It's really good for fabric and buttons and beads.

CrushaGrape · 09/01/2009 14:46

Essie3, not too personal at all! I live on the Tooting/Streatham border, so that's not far from me - about a 20/25 minute walk. I must go and have a look, probably at the weekend. Unfortunately, my main craft is knitting, and yarn is the thing I find hard to get around here (the dept. stores in Brixton, Wimbledon and Tooting only usually have acrylic, baby wool - bleurgh).

However, I love crafty shops anyway (I have a strange love of paper and card) so I'll try to drift over to Sewing Machine Centre tomorrow. Thanks!

midnightexpress · 09/01/2009 14:47

Big tescos (those Tesco Extra stores) are good and cheap.
