I'm knitting a baby shawl and am on the last border but have come unstuck on just the second row!

The pattern is:

1st row: K2, yfwd, K1, K2tog, (yfwd) twice, (K2tog) twice, yfwd, K1, K2tog, yfwd, K2tog, K1 (15 stitches)

2nd row: K2, yfwd, K1, K2tog, yfwd, K3, (K1P1) into (yfwd) twice of previous row, K2tog, yfwd, K3 (16 stitches)

I just don't see how to do the (K1P1) into yfwd twice of previous row and I don't see how I'm going to end up with 16 stitches on my needle. I had a trawl of the internet but the explanation I found didn't really help.

Can someone give me an idiot's guide to what I'm supposed to be doing please?

Many thanks.

hmm by my calculations i get 18 sts. how many do you end up with? have you tried (k1p1) just once instead of twice?

it would help if you could show us a pick of the finished product. can you link to the pattern?
