Does anyone know where I can get a HUGE sewing box from?

I mean really big! My mum has had the same one for 35 years, but it is giving up the ghost now. It is about 45-50cm wide by 30 deep and 30 tall. She wants a new one for Christmas and I have no idea where to find anything like!

It can be plastic (like the original), wood, whatever, but must be a box not a bag.

Any ideas would be great - I've found a big plastic 'decorations' storage box which has some trays at the top (important for threads, needles etc), but no handles. Can anyone do better for me? Pleeeeese?

How about one of those boxes they sell for baby bits. With a deep bottom compartment and a 'flap' with smaller compartments that lifts up when you lift the lid. Would be fine for a sewing box would think. This kind of thing.

try a hardware shop, you can get some pretty big tool boxes these days and they work just as well.

I use a large tool box, it has 2 internal lift out trays (as well as the bottom so 3 layers) and a horde of clear pull out boxes on the front - just right for beads and sequins.

mine is 58wide, 34 deep and 30 high made by ZAG, bought in Homebase sale.

Thank you so much (have just checked back in). The 'original' is a baby changing box, just haven't seen one as big - the one I bought when DS arrived is titchy in comparison. That link was great.

Also the tool box idea - mum has said a toolbox would be OK, so I will go and have a look in homebase later (fight through the Xmas tree purchasers).

Thanks again!
