I've been knitting for ever so long, but I don't know this - I've got a beautiful hat pattern but it says to use Worsted.

Now, is this just the same as Aran, or Double Knitting?

I'm confused - any experts available to advise me please?

Thanks. I'll do a tension square to be on the safe side.

I wanted to use up some of the sock wool I've got lying about, but it really won't work!

Grr to American patterns - why can't they be like ours???

Have you joined Ravelry? There is a lot of information on all kinds of yarns on there. You have to apply for an invitation but it goes very quick these days.

Isn't it woollen as opposed to woolen?

I joined Ravelry, which is where I got the hat pattern, and for my next project, a pair of Prarie boots for DD. Now on the hunt for this American wool to knit them with!

I've done the hat in some "petrol blue with flecks of green" dk pure wool, which was lurking in the cupboard.

It looked vile on me, like an overgrown tea cosy, but very very cute on DD, who's adopted it to add to her collection.
