easter craft ideas for 2 and 3 yr olds

anyone got any ideas??? have googled it, but cant find anything to inspire me...
want to do something with paint or glue and papers, nothing too complicated, and something they can take away with them...

This isn't vey exciting but i just boil some eggs & let ds paint them , he has added stickers in the past too.

It's not really an easter thing but, my ds and dd love making fish. I draw a fish and cut it out and they stick coloured tissue papper cut up into squares onto it! If we make enough fish then we turn them into a mobile. HTH.

we are making bunny ear, strip of thick paper around head secured with tape. cut out ear shapes, kids decorate with pink/ grey tissue paper. Attach ears to head band. They love them.

Cut out egg shapes which they can decorate with glitter sequins these can then be mounted to make easter cards.

Poattaoes make a good easter egg shape for printing.

Little ones can make easter nestsfrom rice crispies and chocolate. Pundland are doing trays of about thirty little easter chiks for a pound which can be put in the nest.

We have used the above chicks to make easter party cards and invites. Yellow card folded to amke card blank, added a square of green material for grass and then glued chick on top. they actually look really good. Added Happy Eater Peel off at the top.

You can make daffoldils from egg boxes painted yellow, the egg section looks like the flowere trumpet - attach a green pipe cleaner.

Cut out estaer chick templates to be decorated with yellow tissue paper.

I was in Smiths yesterday and they had loads of craft activities for kids. Some I thought were a bit pricey but could give you ideas.

Supercook have also released an egg decorated kit £1.98 which included dye, stickers and a stand. A pack does four eggs I think.

I have just bought some cheap paper bowls for my group at nursery. These are to make Easter baskets. the children have covered them with scrunched up tissue paper and willsticking paper Rabbits in them.

i have made easter cards cut out in the shape of a bunny with my ds (2) today, he has covered the living room floor in glitter and stars. but they look fantastic.. i have a template for them, if you want a copy cat me and i'll email it to you..

My ideas are same as everyone else really - cardbaord shapes of eggs, rabbits & chicks to use with paint, paper, glue etc. Decorate blown egg shells/hard boiled eggs or what about making biscuits in easter theme shapes and decorating them with icing?

Just made some great puppets with my kids (tried out first on my Rainbow guides as usual), based on an idea by Baker Ross who are great for rainbows and for adapting.

Small box, painted, chick or rabbit shape on stick (straw), top and bottom of box chopped off, bunny hides inside box then POP! out he comes.

They loved it.

They also made shrink plastic easter eggs: I cut the shapes then punched a large hole, they painted, we baked and then they had a necklace (girls) or keyring (boys).

anyone have any ideas for easter hats? ds (3) has an easter hat parade at nursery next week and we are suppose to come up with something. any ideas will be very welcomed

DS1 making a non-girly hat at mo. papier mache-ed a balloon, cut it so we get a shallow-ish bowl and a domed bit. inverted domed bit so it sits on DS1's head, stuck bowl on top, papier mache'ed join. Tomorrow, ds will paint, then glue loads of twigs and leaves over bowl to make nest, into which we will stick an old cuddly chick and some painted blown eggs. Not sure about how to do bottom half; might do green crepe, a few flowers if ds allows, then some cross emblems as the school is a bit religious.

fantastic idea punnet. may try it out but since i am absolutely lousy at this sort of thing, how long do i need to leave the balloon papier mache-ed before i can cut it out. also, what do you mean by sticking the bowl on top? is this so you have the shape when sticking the stuff on - presumably the bowl doesn't stay there when it is ready? as i said... absolutely novice in this sort of thing thanks!

By sticking the bowl on top, I mean inverting the balloon half to make a nest- it looked like an upside down egg cup..

If you use PVA glue it only need take about 2 days. If you leave it to your son like me...

you could try a very shallow cone - cut half a circle out of thin card and bring the 2 straight side together and stick. Stick ribbons underneath to hold on head, and then let rip ontop - hot cross buns, eggs, chicks, bunnies with cotton wool tails , spring flowers (platic flowers from poundland) , a birds nest, etc etc

Think I will have a Teddy Bears Picnic theme to the end of the term; might do an evening of 'silly sandwiches'- banana and cheese that sort of thing. So far we have been concentrating on the new programme; had our first pot of gold evening tonight. Went well but need to theme up better for when the Rainbows who have been doing it a while come through.

I know! We'll do bugs this half term. Painting rocks to make ladybirds; a butterfly mobile for Brown Owl who is pregnant; dragonfly hairslides (peel off stickers stuck on acetate and coloured in with PERMANENT acetate markers, with a hair pin attached). I'll have to think of some more but that's a start.

punnet - I like the bugs theme - was going to do spiders from balck pompoms and pipecleaners, but Though that wouldn't take that long and then I've the rest of the hour to fill. That's my biggest problem at the moment - trying to fill in a hour.You can CAT if you like

csa- tip- if you're making a nest, I used Rosemary. it looks good, glues easily (unlike Ivy- grrr), and smells gorgoeous!

We've done Easter cards - potato printing large circle, small circle to make chick shape, then stuck on orange paper beak, and ELC eyes - they look quite good! Also, and I'm VERY proud of this, ds painted an egg box yellow, and decorated with ELC pompoms, filled egg box with shredded yellow tissue paper, then we made a yellow wool pompom, using cereal packet to make cardboard rings to wind the wool round (I'm very Blue Peter ish today!), then stuck on 2 ELC eyes, orange beak, put in egg box - and there you have Easter Chick Box! And all my own invention!

hello. reporting back. i'm afraid i didn't do very well at all. printed out your suggestions and handed it to dh. dug out a left-over cone-shaped party hat and went to paperchase to buy 4 little chicks at 25p each. dh painted the hat yellow, stuck the chicks on and ds stuck on some stickers of bunnies and easter eggs. i shall slink away quietly now in shame of my lack of blue peter-ish talent!
