Ideas for special gift for newborn neice / nephew

Can anyone help me think of a gift I can make for my very special niece / nephew due in April 2009?

My SIL made a cross stitch sampler for my daughter when she was born and I was incredibly touched that she went to such a big effort. I want to give a similar gift but don't want to copy the idea exactly.

Do you know what name will be? It might be possible to get first edition/old childrens book with same name or name in title... I got a victorian childrens book called "Poppy" (as was baby obv!) for a friends little girl.

How about a patchwork quilt if you wanted to make something yourself? You could perhaps embroider a dedication in one corner.

Oh I love the idea of a book but I won't know the name until he / she makes an appearance. Great idea of a future Christmas or Birthday though, thank you!
