Another question about how to measure knitting

Hello, me again.

How do I measure the armhole then? It has to be 24cm from where I started to shape the armhole by casting off a few stitches. Now, do I simply measure the distance from the row where I started the armhole shaping or do I measure the edge of the knitting and include the width across the stitches I cast off at the start of the armhole shaping? Does that make sense?

Maybe it's just easier to tell me how you do it I'm trying to avoid a sleeve that's puckered once I sew it in.

You have 60 cm up to the armhole, yes? Then measure 84 cm if you need 24 cms from the beginning of the armhole.
Don't worry too much about the puckering, there is plenty of 'give' in knitting to avoid that.
And do get into counting rows rather that measuring, it is much more accurate.

Thanks DutchOma - I was hoping you'd be around.
