What can I use for the mouse's tail???

I am making a little mobile using tiny fir cones wrapped round with coloured wool and tissue paper 'ears'. They were going to be funky bumble bees but for some reason they look more like mice . Just to make it blatantly clear what the damn things are, I feel that the addition of a tail would close the matter. I need something that would be about 1-2" long that I could curl round a bit and that would stick to a fir cone.

Help!

Or shall I just call them bees and be done with it??

A bit of thread curled over a teaspoon? Superglue if it won't stick to the fir cone by itself)
