Hiya,

Dd has found a sudden interest in pottery. I was thinking that maybe fimo would be a good place to start.

But just wandered if you had any other ideas. It needs to be something that we can do at home, without too much equipment and cheap.

Where would you recommend we start?

Thanx

Pink

How about making your own play dough?
You can make large quantities that would be cheaper than fimo, so maybe it will be more realistic with regards to playing at pottery.

Early learning do a bucket of air dry clay.

this stuff is good too. It's easy to paint when dry.

Have you checked to see if there is anywhere she can do pottery in your area? My sil takes dd every other Saturday it costs £4 but they can stay as long as they want, make what they want and they have all the equipment there.

Thanx for your tips.

We have playdough already but dd would like to make something that will set and she can decorate afterwards. The air drying clay sounds perfect.

I will check in our local area and see if there is anywhere I can take her.

thanx again

Hi there,

My son would love to get in to pottery. Does anyone know somewhere in the Epsom, Surrey area where they do pottery classes for children ?

Thanks

Sorry I can't help i'm in Liverpool. The one my dd goes to though isn't a class for children as such it's were anyone over 5 can go and make things from clay and use the facilities so no one actually teaching anyone iyswim. DD is the only child there atm. There may be something like this near you?
