am i thick?
i like knitting. but it takes ages and ages to actually complete something. and all the talk on ravelry...... its as if people make something massive every other day. i find the projects incredibly hard. and the chat about techniques has me mystified.
am i just thick? because i remember i couldnt understand ukscrappers either. in fact the only chatboard i get on with is mumsnet.

I'm on ravelry too... come and find me as fiona-kelly.

I've been knitting for 33yrs and crocheting since 2002 and some of the terminology has me confuddled too.

I have come to the conclusion there is a UK knitting/crochet lingo and a US one. It's taking me a while to getting used to the new terms and translating!

I've had my latest project on the go since the summer... an amigurumi felted crochet highland cow i'm designing.

There are people who seem to make loads of stuff & then there's ones like me who desperately try to fit in their crafting around our DS hectic toddler social life....

So many ideas with not enough hours in the day. I now have another impediment to my evening crocheting... morning sickness. Counting off the weeks till it disappears... hopefully only 4 more to go if all goes like last time

I love ravelry..... but I just look at the pictures

TeenyTinyTorya · 09/10/2008 20:46

Do remember though that there's about 160,000 people on Ravelry, so there's always people finishing things and talking about it.

Search for the Mumsnet group!

babyOcho · 09/10/2008 20:47

I asked to join ravely and heard nothing yet. I dont understand it.

Will it all become clear when I get a login?

TeenyTinyTorya · 09/10/2008 21:09

You should hear in abotut 3-5 days from when you apply. Then you'll get a login and a magical world will open in front of you

FKelly · 09/10/2008 21:16

oooh i'm off to find the mumsnet group! I didn't know there was one there too

EachPeachPearMum · 09/10/2008 21:21

They will email you with a link.
Think it took 3 weeks for mine, about 8 months ago.

DutchOma · 09/10/2008 21:32

If it takes more than a week log in with a different e.mail address. That worked for me.

florenceuk · 10/10/2008 20:02

I'm not that prolific - but I like browsing, looking at what others have done and I have even managed to buy some fancy sock yarn (there is a definite sock yarn/lace yarn cult on Ravelry).

Plus there are lots of Heroes spoilers in the Heroes group (apparently Mohinder goes green and slimy - ugh).

bundle · 10/10/2008 20:05

I knit veeerrrry slowly
but have lots on the go at once, so it's an optical illusion, like I'm dead busy/skilled/clever. which I'm not. except the busy bit.

stitch · 11/10/2008 09:04

thank you all, you have given me the cofidence to go back to ravelry.

FKelly · 11/10/2008 20:25
