Anyone want to help make another Mumsnet blanket?

Marina · 06/10/2008 11:04

A group of us is making another Mumsnet blanket.
We are chatting about it on Ravelry (in the Mumsknitters forum for all Ravelers!), where we can natter away without the projected recipient being in the know but we'd love more Knitting Mners to join us. Usual malarkey, cotton dk, 15cm squares!
Both DutchOma and I are happy to CAT or be CATed if you want more info.
I have not e-mailed people direct this time as it's been a while since the last one and I got bounce-backs galore from my first attempt to alert sporadic MN posters.
Any assistance gratefully welcomed!

Hi Marina

I'm not much of a knitter but I'd love to help out

A square can't be that hard, right?

Could you email me please - tangerinecath at hotmail dot co dot uk

Marina · 06/10/2008 11:20

I am such a browser!
Will CAT you Marina.

EffiePerine · 06/10/2008 11:34

can do - have a few balls of cotton DK I got for abortive baby clothes project, so can also supply some extra yarn if needed. Do you still have my email address, Marina?

BTW tried to look at Ravelry to see if I could join but the site was down - must try again.

TotalChaos · 06/10/2008 11:36

Would crochet be acceptable? will check out ravelry anyhow.

EffiePerine · 06/10/2008 11:37

oh and what colour? Have cream and a nice pale green

bundle · 06/10/2008 11:37

crochet is fine!

EffiePerine · 06/10/2008 11:38

thinking about it, I have some odds and ends of that nice shiny sssh yarn in all sorts of colours - it can be a pain to knit with but it IS 100% cotton

bundle · 06/10/2008 11:38

sounds gorgeous, i think bright colours are the order of the day, but muted by other more neutrals!

EffiePerine · 06/10/2008 11:39

hurrah!

Saturn74 · 06/10/2008 11:39

I'd love to; can just about manage a square.
Will CAT you Marina.

Could you CAT me with details?
Thanks.

EffiePerine · 06/10/2008 11:45

am knitting neutrals for DC2 (see, I have a Plan) so it will be a nice change

EachPeachPearMum · 06/10/2008 14:42

Marina am already a member...just don't go on there too often, as I spend all night on there, and then realise it's 1 in the morning, and I should have been in bed hours ago!

oggsfrog · 06/10/2008 16:40

I'd like to help too .
Can anyone recommend a yarn as I don't have any cotton and my LYS is not very large and does not have a great selection.
I'll pop over to Ravelry.

fullmoonfiend · 06/10/2008 16:49

can it be plain ol' knitting? I'm just starting my usual Autumn stress knitting

Marina · 06/10/2008 21:33

Plain old knitting is fine fmf
I'll CAT you Purly, I'm afraid I didn't manage to earlier today

Miaou has just informed me that the deadline for completed squares is November 15th everyone!

OP posts:
babyOcho · 06/10/2008 21:39

I'll join in. What do I have to do?

Marina · 06/10/2008 22:12

You need to knit one or more 15 cm squares in bright cotton dk, babyOcho. If you are a mad experienced knitter, DutchOma and Miaou have some fab intarsia suggestions over in the Mumsknitters section of Ravelry
Squares in either garter stitch or stocking stitch with a 4 row, 5 stitch moss stitch border usually work out fine

Hi - I've done some squares and they're all ready to go. Can you let me know where to send them, please?

I'm on Ravelry if you prefer to post details there.
