Craft ideas for my 2.5 ds - what do you do?

I'm not really a crafty person but I want to start doing crafts with my ds to improve his attention span and get him away from playing trains all the time - and also cause it's getting colder and we're staying indoors more....

we have made binoculars (sp?) from toliet roll and we have done the usual play doh and painting stuff....

just wondering if anyone can give me some ideas.....

would be great if I could use stuff around the house ie boxes, yoghurt pots etc as I don't want to buy lots of stuff (we alrady have paints etc)...

Junk modelling with boxes etc, sticky tape/glue boxes together, you can cover them with paper/glitter/paint them first. We made a great robot covered in tin foil.

Cut out lots of pictures from magazines/old birthday cards and make collages

Get leaves/twigs etc and stick them on a piece of card/paper

Tesco have lots of craft bits for pennies as do Wilkinsons/Asda/The Works etc

Make all your birthday/Christmas cards, you could also do Calendars

Black paper with coloured paints/glitter for fireworks

Last Christmas the boys covered and decorated a box (an old dishwasher tablets one) and we put it on the fireplace for Father Christmas to put presents in (small ones obv).

I'm very into non-representational art at this stage - don't try too hard (at all) to get it to look like something.

Lots of different paint, different coloured paper.

A huge variety of things to stick on - offcuts of fabric (check local fabric shop if you have one), dried food like pasta, lentils, seeds etc., cut up paper. Wool, leather offcuts.

Printing with wine corks dipped in paint. String dipped in paint.

Get yoghurt pots etc. and paint them.

After Xmas buy up all the "make your own Xmas Cards" kits cheap and let your DS stick them together any old how.

Put "Scrapstore" and your local town into Google and join the Scrapstore - it's bits and pieces from local businesses sold off cheaply and you can get wonderful lots of different things - fabric offcuts, discontinued headed paper, funny little plastic bits used in packing, bags, pots string, stickers (tin labels etc). At my local a bagful costs me a pound and lasts months.

We made a mobile with sticks for the frame bit and then hung leaves....

Also make postcards out of cut up cereal boxes.
