Annie Cole knitting patterns

Back in 1995/6 I knitted a white cotton cot cover from a kit supplied by Annie Cole handknitting ltd. They did a good range of patterns for cushions and covers.

I have tried extensive google searches, and tired phoning the number I have but have found no trace of the company.

Can anyone tell me what happened to Annie Cole? are they still in buisness?

If not i have two questions,
Are the patterns still available from anywhere else.
What is the nearest replacement for Annie Cole white cotton. The pattern I have says use a 3mm needle, but not sure if I need double knit or 4 ply.
Please help. Can a buisness just vanishe without a trace?

Oh yes, knitting designers do go out of business as sole traders - Patricia Roberts for example, and Woollybear Yarns. She had a shop on Kensington Church Street at one time.
Agree with storm, that sounds like 4 ply. Debbie Bliss, Rowan, Sirdar - cotton yarns are widely available at the mo.

Thanks for your replies.

I would still like to track down some of the patterns if anyone knows where I could get them from.

I know this is over a year later, but I have some Annie Cole patterns and would sell them if you are still interested. I don't know how much to ask but we can discuss that. They are 4 ply. Some are cushions, some are cot and pram blankets and can be adapted as all you do is knit squares.I also have some border patterns.

I know this is a long time after but I have the Annie Cole traditional raised leaf pattern bedspread knitting pattern from a long ago Prima if anyone wants me to scan and send it. It is the same pattern as the cot cover you were talking of way back in 2008.
Thing is, I'm looking for suitable cotton to do it, obviously Annie Cole is no longer in business, are the 35 balls of cotton still available??
Wish I'd done this search much earlier!

barrybraes17 · 05/01/2015 17:23

I would be grateful if anyone could send me a copy of Annie Cole pattern for cot/pram leaf cover - willing to pay please let me know by PM. (email address removed by MNHQ)

LatteLady · 08/01/2015 23:03

For Annie Cole check out the pattern section on Ravelry.

Also Patricia Roberts is still going and trading in Kinnerton St, SW1.

suedeclerck · 13/02/2015 22:56

I would really like the annie cole pattern. Has anyone found it?

Baileyslater1234 · 14/02/2015 17:06

guitarberyl I would be very great full if I could have a copy of the leaf pattern Annie Cole pattern please I know this is from a old thread but hope you still have it thank you.

Flossyfloof · 16/02/2015 15:36

I have a raised leaf pattern I can let you have. I don't know how to do pics on here. It is actually an old Sirdar one, I think. The one where you make the leaf in th corner and put those four corners together.

Baileyslater1234 · 16/02/2015 16:59

I have the one where you put the four leaves together this one of Annie Coles has like French knots as well thank you all the same xx

Hello, I am Annie Cole's daughter. My sister somehow just came across this thread and forwarded it to me incase I may be able to help any enthusiastic knitters. Sadly my mother passed away in September after a long struggle with dementia. Her house was packed full of Victorian patterns and everything you could imagine to do with embroidery, knitting and crafts. We saved some of it but sadly most of it had to go. However I think I still have the patterns and so should be able to photograph them if anybody wants a copy.
It was so lovely to see that people were still interested in her designs. She absolutely loved her work and her army of knitters, she was never found with idle hands. She was a fabulous person. Laura
