Hi I am trying to start a little business organizing children's parties with my potter's wheel. Where is a good, but cheap place to advertise?

Depends who you're trying to attract and where you are based. Assume you are aiming this at children? If so what kind of age groups?

I live in a small village. We have a local parish paper that offers fairly cheap advertising and prints articles for free. Also a local newspaper for teh surrounding area but I don't know how cheap that is. Or you could ask your local schools if you can do a flyer for the children to take home.

If smaller primary schools try putting a notice up or on village notice boards round and about.

We also get a booklet home from school, can't remember what it's called but something like 'what's on' or 'out and about', which lists lots of activities and things for school hols and has advertising for parties etc in in.

Word of mouth is usually the best advert though. Have you got some friends or family you can offer a cheal deal to to get you started? Always put some sort of advert in your take home bag that is small and can be stuck on a fridge for example. People will keep it or pass it on hopefully!

Thanks Gilly,
I am new to London so starting from scratch a bit as far as friends network....
Still your suggestions are a great starting point, i didn't realize schools got involved in advertising - how times are changing!
Since my post yesterday I have managed to volunteer for Southwark festival this weekend - should be fun!

It is for adults too - its my hobby - but grown ups are so self conscious, kids just get stuck in! I ve made a doughnut shape pot with a 2 year old - Soooo CUTE!!

I think there could be some potential for 'Ghost' style Hen Parties ha!ha!!
