Can I knit or crochet a solid 3-d shape to make a stress ball without using stuffing

I have just contacted a project using James Brett Flutterby Huggable Super Chunky and have about 100g left. My ancient motjer found the texture very pleasing, and I’m wondering if I can make her a very soft stress ball to exercise her arthritic hands. It’s too chunky I think to make a ball and stuff. Is there a pattern for kitty or crochet that will allow me to make the whole thing out of this ysrn, quietly stuffing? It doesn’t need to ea sphere, but does need to be tennis ball size or smaller.

Sorry about typos. The app does not like my phone (or maybe vice versa).

Do you mean you would make it 3D just out of yarn, so the yarn would be like stuffing?

Yes, exactly. It works up wonderfully squishy. I thought maybe work a narrow band and roll it up and sew the edges? But maybe there’s a better technique?
