Would you wash crocheted baby toys before giving them as gifts?

I’m crocheting some baby toys for newborns. I’m using cotton yarn and polyester polyfill. Would you wash before giving as gifts or leave it to the parents? I wasn’t intending to wash them myself but have read stuff online suggesting I should!

I don't know if parents will want crocheted baby toys since they have not been safety checked.
