Embroidery kit - help me please!

Not sure if this is the best place to ask but worth a try!

I ordered an embroidery kit, assuming it would come with a bit of an idiot's guide like one I previously did. This one though, clearly assumes a decent level of knowledge of embroidery! Can anyone recommend a website with a comprehensive guide of different stitch types etc?

And while I'm here, any common mistakes a beginner should avoid?

looks like a lovely piece! Quite a challenge for a beginner but take it slow and enjoy the process. The RSN stitchbank is an amazing resource and most if not all have videos. Go onto YouTube and search for a stitch name and you’ll find loads too - sometimes when learning trickier stitches I looked at multiple videos until I found one I “got”.

Could I suggest that you practice each stitch on a spare piece of fabric before you launch into the main job. That way you will feel confident that you can do it well. Good luck!

Her (Clever Poppy) YouTube videos tend to match up her kits but you could search "stitch name Clever Poppy" to find a how to for each stich type. I did her cat flower crown kit and it was very easy and came out looking lovely.
She also recommendeds using a heat erasable pen to mark out patterns then stitch on top. Hair dryer heat eases the heat erasable pen.

That website is a bit confusing. If you purchased the full kit, it says comes with step by step instructions. It also says check your account to download the pdf instructions.
Perhaps just contact them to check about the instructions guide?

I really like MarynCorbet on YouTube - I find her tutorials really helpful. But YouTube is easier / more helpful once you know which stitch you want to use. So I would definitely contact the place where you bought the kit from and ask for help.

Thanks for all the suggestions! The instructions it came with just name the stitch to use for each bit but I'm very much at the stage of needing specific instructions for each stitch ... I'll have a look through the above 😊

Another vote for the royal school of needlework stitch bank , the best site for learning different stitches.
