Doughnut pillow with cover.

I have a sore ear and am trying to make a pillow with a hole in the centre so my ear is protected. I've worked out a couple of ways to do this but ideally I would also like to make removeable covers that can be washed. I don't like the idea of using a pillow week after week that isn't washed and I don't think it would withstand a weekly hot wash.
Any inspiration please?

Could you make a sausage pillow with a cover that you fold into a loop with a fastener on each end?

@MyOtherProfile that's a good idea! A bit like a travel neck pillow with ties or velcro.

Yes I think that shouldn't be too hard and would work well.
