... been thinking about doing this for a rainy weather activity for dd's b'day party...

been looking at yellow moon website where they sell ceramic tile coasters for 3.99 for 8... www.yellowmoon.org.uk/cat_id/ARTSDESI/product-Ceramic-Coasters-K912.htmand then will decoarate them using their Acrylic Deco Pens www.yellowmoon.org.uk/product-Acrylic-Deco-Pens-K733.htm

do you think that their ceramic tiles are a special decorate-tiles or do you think i could just use the bog standard tiles i can get at b&q (trying too save money!)

thanks!

I have bought these (tiles and pens). It was very successful activity for my art group, we made them for father's day.

Just a note that the deco pens are matt finish. If you use the acrylic paint then you get a gloss effect finish (nice and shiny), but of course there's more likelyhood of mess/spills and depending on ages pens can be easier to use than brushes. The pens dry quite quickly too as the paint isn't as thick.

I tested it out myself before hand and we ended up doing the background using the paint and then decorating on top with the pens. Took about 20 mins to dry befor ewe could draw on teh top.

I'm not a tile expert but they seem like ordinary (small) tiles to me. They don't have any backing on them so you might want to stick some felt on the back or use a blob of their glitter pens works too I found. I thought they were good value for what I paid though.

You might find bigger quantities cheaper on the baker ross version of the catalogue. Same people and website looks very similar.
