Am making a blanket for a relative; each square going up to somewhere where the round thing has safely and definitively been made square). I’m currently on Round 26 (? It’s the BP stitches after the Crab Stitch round). Now, this round is all all all BP stitches and it’s driving me potty. I hate doing BP into what are essentially sc. trying to think of a way to modify the crab stitch to make BPs into it easier.

I’ve made 7 squares so far and have this problem every single time. I have at least 4 more squares to go.

I started this thing years ago for a relative’s wedding present, but he’s been divorced since! It does take me a long time as a) I ordered the wrong weight of yarn so have to use a much smaller hook so every square takes longer to get to a decent size, and b) I have MS, so often have to take long breaks (nearly 2 years once) so my hands can rest and start working properly again, and sometimes I can’t see too well and that slows me down and the ever-present tremors and clumsiness get in the way a little.

i really would have finished it by now otherwise! 😂

I was thinking of maybe trying crab stitch with an extra twist inserted somewhere/somehow. Any ideas?

Thanks so much!

AND... I've just realised you're talking about crochet 😬🤣

It is terrifying! But not as bad as I expected once I started. I have done 7 squares (end on round 40-something) and I just want to finish it! Two squares to go

i did solve my problem by simply turning the work and working backwards, and then turning it the right way round again, and continuing. It is hard to follow the pattern, I’m not sure she’s written it in a way that I can follow easily. I keep rewriting each round/repeat so I can keep track of where I am. IT has taken me years, the godson for whom it was intended as wedding gift is now actually divorced. I shall finish it, and send it to him as he probably doesn’t believe it exists! It’ll not be a wedding gift, just a gift and I hope he won’t mind.

What did you think I was talking about - not being rude, just curious!

I've made one as a whole blanket and it was a challenge even without the things you've mentioned @Jux
Maybe instead of the crab stitch you could do a row of htr/hdc but in the back loop. It should then, when you do the BP stitch it should help the htr/hdc row stand out similar to how the crab stitch does.
