Can I unpick this?

I knitted a 100% Peruvian chunky wool jumper for a relative for Christmas. She choose the Whirlwind pattern by Brenda Lam. I have finished it and it is too heavy for them. I want to know if it would be safe to try and unpick this. I have not started yet as I wanted your advice. There is over £100 of wool in this jumper. I personally would not wear it but I would be happy to turn it into something I would wear. It was knitted on 15mm needles.

Should be able to - but of a faff where you have bound off and if you tied knots joining yarn but easy enough. I have previously just snipped a thread one row above bind off and sacrificed the yarn

Meant to say also if you have a yarn winder it’s pretty therapeutic rather than having to ball up the wool as you go

Yes, you can basically unravel it in reverse to how you knitted it. You should ideally hank up the yarn, gently wash/soak it and then wind back into balls. I've got these photos from one I unravelled last year.
