Does this exist? Sewing pattern for a dry robe type coat.

Looked everywhere, can’t find one.
Got lots of fleece in the attic to use for lining so would just need basic outer layer waterproof fabric plus zip.
Pattern is eluding me though, and not brave or experienced enough to attempt one without!

TIA

A quick google found this one but I’m not in a position to comment on it.

Minerva Dry Robe

edit: sorry just saw it is a dress, not a coat. Ignore me.

Thanks for trying, @EveryKneeShallBow !

Have you tried searching youtube @SmockAndBeret ?
I know there are lots of sewing channels, someones bound to have a tutorial, how to adapt a pattern etc?
I also have fleece to use up, but planning a dressing gown😄

I've made one by adapting a DIBY club/ Copper Creek Patterns Billie Blanket - adding a chunky open ended zip down the middle.

I think the website is down at the moment but you can buy the printed pattern from CLC prints. It used to be a free pattern (might still be when the website is working)

A dry robe isn't a dressing gown. Here's a link to the dryrobe site: Dryrobe® - The original waterproof changing robe & outdoor gear

Thanks for the link, I didn't realise what a dry robe was!
It looks like an extremely simple pattern to draft, am I right in thinking the sleeves aren't even separate from the body?

I would love to see it when you have made it. I can't begin to imagine how to start (I have no creativity)

HouseAshamed · 22/11/2025 12:43

@MO0N , no worries, my search engine thing didn't either. I've only seen one in the wild (in the greengrocery section of my local Tesco Extra).

Oh wow, thanks for all the posts everyone, hadn’t checked here in a while.
There are a few tutorials online, and guides on adapting some patterns to make them into Dry Robe-alikes, but as a fairly inexperienced sewer I wasn’t keen on doing anything too risky, or that depends on some skill and judgement as it’s a colossal amount of fabric to waste if I get it wrong! So I wanted a proper pattern.

That said, the Billie blanket pattern does look like a doable adaptation, even for me (thanks @pastabest ) and the coat on the Fold Line would also work in a large size, so thanks to those who linked that.

Yes I will post a pic if I do one and finish… but it won’t be imminent!

Thanks again 🙂
