Knitting pattern crisis

Knitting the front left side of the cardi (finally) but I’m baffled about decreasing.

The cardi is in check stitch (row 1-3 K2, P2; row 4-6 P2, K2).

Pattern says decrease on RS at end of row until X number of stitches. But it also says see decreasing note.
This is where I get confused because the decreasing note says ssk at the beginning of the row - not the end. Also, note talks about decreasing on the WS - but there’s no mention of that in the pattern at that stage.

My question: should I follow the pattern & just decrease on RS at the end? Or, should I be decreasing on WS too (as indicated on the note)?

Do other sizes reduce on the WS, or are there WS decreases elsewhere in the pattern?

My interpretation would be that the decrease note is a place to collect the information, and you take the information you need - NOT an instruction to be followed in entirety for every decrease.

So I would decrease on RS rows (as per the pattern) following the RS row decrease instructions in the decrease note.

Thank you. Yes, in the next instruction it goes on to mention decreasing on the 4th row which is the WS.
I’ve posted it below.

I think you are right; I should just apply the bit of info that matters in the pattern, but let me know if this additional info changes your opinion.

I agree with Tangle’s interpretation.

Thanks to both of you! 😀

Another way to think about this is to consider the shape your supposed to be making. If you’re creating a slope for the neck opening then the decreases are going to be on one side (or mostly on one side), not both.
