I have two cakes of scheepjes whirl in contrasting shades and want to make a large triangular wrap thing in contrasting colours. My head can't get itself around the logistics.... if I start with colour one and do one row knit, one row purl it will be flat on the right side and bumpy on the wrong side. I then switch to colour two and do one row purl, one row knit. That makes it flat on the wrong side, bumpy on the right side. But will you see the colour transitions? Trying to figure out the easiest way to achieve what I want. I may just end up doing all knit in colour 1 and knit/purl in colour 2 to achieve the contrast.

I’m not sure what you want.
Firstly the finish - do you want it all flat on the right side, ie standard knit one row, purl one row, or do you want a mixture of knit and purl rows on the right side?

Secondly, the colour contrast. Do you have say one cake that goes from dark blue to light blue and one in dark purple to pink and you want a finished piece that goes from dark blue and dark purple to light blue and pink, or, two cakes the same but you want o use them at the same time so it goes dark to light in one band rather than having two bands of dark to light ?

ideally, i want it to alternate a stripe of smooth with a stripe of bumpy on each side.

Practice with rows of 10 stitches until you find the effect you like and then undo it and start again with the right number of stitches.

What they said 👏🏽

Knitting a practice swatch is never a waste of time.

I had thought about practice swatches but you know... instant gratification...
