Swim rings/flotation aids - suggestions please!

Hi, I have an almost 19-mth old who is not very confident in the water - today for the first time he put his feet down in the toddler pool but he's still not happy about it!

He weighs just over 2 stone so I don't really want to splash out (excuse the pun) on a 2-3yrs Floaties seat as these seem to only go up to 16 kilos which doesn't give much room for growth.

He's not very keen on armbands and tries to push them back off.

I did see at the pool today a basic rubber ring but that had a cross in the bottom of it, so the child wouldn't be able to slip through. However I've looked in Mothercare, Woolworths, Argos and noone seems to sell these - does anyone know where I could purchase one from? The mum at the pool said hers came from new zealand!

Any and all suggestions welcome, thank you!

This floaties seat info says it goes up to 18kg rather than 16 which is a slight improvement. That's the best I could find for the sort of thing you are describing but I should think it would do even a heavy 19mth old a reasonable time.

I really wouldn't recommend a woggle at that age and before they are really trying to learn to swim properly as they don't give the security you are after and can slip and give more confidence issues. A float suit might be an alternative or he might take to these rather than the conventional armbands - some children prefer the feel of them to the inflatable sort.

DS has a float suit - it's fab - so much comfier than armbands, and gives him loads of confidence.

How about a float jacket like the zoggs bobbin. My DS love his zoodle too.
