So I can sew but I’ve never really made clothes, thinking of making myself a summer skirt as I don’t like what’s available, anyone Rec a good easy pattern.

Also I would just buy cotton but am I best looking for something in particular material wise.

Light weight scuba is an excellent choice. Slight stretch so doesn't matter if you get the fit a bit wrong, and you don't even have to hem it. Won't fray around the seams.

It sews best with an overlocker though, which you might not have (but you can use a zigzag stitch on a normal machine too)

I do have an overlocker, but I was hoping for some nice patterns which is why I thought cotton

The peppermint pocket skirt is easy and it's a free pattern, can be made with cotton but I used linen for mine

That sounds ideal, pockets too!

Scuba comes in some amazing prints! It's only one sided though, just to warn you in case that matters

Scuba is an awful, sweaty fabric for a summer skirt!

The pocket skirt would work nicely in a poplin or seersucker.

I’ve actually been looking today and I might try a lightweight denim! However I have some cheap linen someone gave me and I might do a practice before I commit!
