She is 8 and wants me to help her make a patchwork blanket ,she wants it big enough to fit on her single bed .

My question is will we be able to do it with out a sewing machine and what supplies do I need ?

Also what do I do LOL?

Thankyou

well, my mum made several patchwork quilts without a sewing machine. Prob good for kids to start on as well as involves small seams. Haven't made one from scratch, but I have find memories of helping mum with mine when I was about the same age as your DD

Yes you will be able to make it without a sewing machine.
Basically you need patches of fabric and sew them together. Then you'll need to stitch some wadding onto it and a back for it.

no pictures but easy enough to follow

again easy to follow.

You'll be fine without a sewing machine (just slower)

Actually I think doing it without a sewing machine will be better. You can sit together and chat and stitch (ooh I've come over all Jane Austen here!!!)
It sounds like a lovely mummy/daughter project - I'm just waiting for my 2 to be old enough (I know I shouldn't wish their lives away).
I did this with my mom on rainy days in our caravan on holidays. She's still got it (and its still not finished that was like 20 odd years ago . Great memories
