My Mum has convinced me after years of painting for pleasure, and as gifts, to try and sell my paintings. I have a stall at a festival in 5 weeks booked and I'm having a total crisis of confidence. I've got about 50 paintings, on my profile are 2 as an example of the quality.

Will people think I'm joking, or will anybody buy them. Not planning on asking much for them.

I have seen stuff not as good for £300 plus

You are very talented

piratecat · 13/05/2008 18:04

they look great, can i ask WHEN do you find the time!!!??

mustsleep · 13/05/2008 18:05

i would buy them depending on how much they were or would wish i could afford one

what others do you do? would make a lovely change from the same old prints that everyone has

you could stick some on ebay, ds would love the superman!!

3Ddonut · 13/05/2008 18:07

Wow! They're amazing, don't you dare undersell yourself, you've put a lot of work into them and you deserve a good price for them, if you put on a price and someone thinks it's too much, they'll make you an offer, see how it goes, good luck!!

lackaDAISYcal · 13/05/2008 18:07

they look really good and will sell.....make sure you get a fair price for them. they look as though you have put a lot of work into them.

My BIL sells some of his paintings on ebay as well as at craft fairs and art exhibitions. You could look into joining your local art club as they usually have exhibitions/sales a couple of times a year.

mrsleroyjethrogibbs · 13/05/2008 18:10

OMG i would buy one if I could afford it. Dont undersell yourself missus

mrsleroyjethrogibbs · 13/05/2008 18:11

well i wanted to cat you but you dont accept them

3kids1cat · 13/05/2008 18:20

Sorry not sure what cat is but haven't not accepted them on purpose. I'm selling these size pictures for about £25, I was thinking. I've got a really wide range, kids pictures, animals, other comic characters, flowers etc. So glad to hear someone other than family say they're ok. Won't feel so nervous now.

3kids1cat · 13/05/2008 18:26

Piratecat re finding the time, I have a dp who is wonderful at looking after the kids for a few hours on the weekend, a mum who is always willing to help and lots of late nights.
Thanks for all the lovely comments, if any of you live near Leamington that's where I'll be trying to sell them. June 14th and 15th. Or would be willing to have a go at painting pretty much anything if someone wanted.

pucca · 13/05/2008 18:46

3kids1cat...I have just emailed you, would love some pics of your art work please

TwoIfBySea · 14/05/2008 17:41

£25? Don't sell yourself so cheap 3kids1cat (cute kids and cat by the way!)

I'd kill for talent like that, very envious! Your mum is right, you should sell them, people would love things like that.

The only problem I would see is copyright, for Superman and the like I don't know how you would stand. (Just don't knit anything or the BBC will be after you!) Other than that those are really excellent, I like the top one, the woman's portrait.

Good luck!

champs · 15/05/2008 22:42

WOW!!! they're fab! AVE CONFIDENCE IN YOURSELF< TRULLY AMAzing... have you got a blog/site/album where we could se more?

Have you thought about approaching galleries?? And what about cafes/resturants/shops with wall space for art??

All the best for your fair.
