I'm trying to do a friend a favour. Her daughter (5) has wide shoulders but very, very slim hips. Therefore, it's very difficult to find a bikini that fits (it has to be a bikini because she loathes the feeling of a wet swimsuit on her tummy).

I have therefore offered to make her something like this from Rachel Riley (but not at Rachel Riley prices!!):

www.rachelriley.com/index.asp?pid=1633872&pg=18level1=Girls&level2=Swimwear+%26+Sun+Hats&level3=

I don't think I'm skilled enough to do it without a proper pattern. Does anyone have any recommendations please???

Thanks for any info!!

Sorry, the link doesn't work but it's a bikini made in a floral print cotton which is basically a ruched band on top with ties for straps and the bikini bottoms are ruched as well and - most importantly in this case - have side ties ...

thanks

do I mean ruched???

don't mean like Roman blinds (obviously ) ... more like traditional smocking but only horizontal

... if that makes any sense at all ....

two swimwear patterns here it won't let me link the separate patterns so you'll need to scroll down a bit to see the second one

Hi dizzyday and gigglewitch ....

Sorry for the late response - got caught up with rl yesterday - very much appreciate your replies though ...

Dizzy, great minds think alike, I actually had already put a bid on that Ebay one but I lost out!! Still keeping an eye out though as that style with the side ties is perfect

Gigglew - thank you v. much for the link - the patterns look great. It now just depends on whether I can find some suitable fabric ..

Thank you again both!
