Cross stitch - buying DMC thread

I've fallen in love with a cross stitch pattern, and it will required about 140 skeins of DMC thread which is far more than anything I've ever done before.

Usually £45 gets me the pattern, fabric and thread so this is a big investment.

Where is the cheapest site (UK) based to buy DMC thread? I've looked at some American ones and they're cheaper but don't ship to the UK.

Thanks

I'm not a massive stitcher and don't have the energy for counted patterns anymore (i do big stamped ones), but when I did I bought the non branded equivalent from etsy, they colour match for a much lower price. You can send them the pattern or thread chart and they'll do the work for you.

I've not found cheap dmc, so no help if you want the branded stuff, sorry!

I have a friend who lives in New York who used to send me threads in exchange for British or Irish chocolate Grin

sadly all the uk sites I used to use are now all out of business. Good luck with your project!

I've always found ebay the best source for DMC in the UK but its been a while since I ordered any. One thing to remember, if you're doing a large piece like a HAED, ask the seller to make sure each colour is from the same batch number if your buying multiples of the same colour. Enjoy!

I don’t know how the prices compare but I have used Lakeside needlecraft a few times for buying thread.
