Faux stained glass - paint or coloured sheets?

OK so I want to fake some stained glass

I've used the stick on lead successfully before but with precut film shapes to work around.

If I want to create a panel am I best to use glass paint or sheets of coloured film cut to size?

hi Katy
it depends if the glass you are working on is horizontal or vertical - if the glass is a window already in place then the paint will run downwards into puddles where the leading is, so will be graduating in colour.

Oh thanks

When they put double glazing in, the glass is separate isn't it? So I could work on it flat & then when it's dry install it?

i hate double glazing with a passion and i've never lived in a house with it. So i don't know - sorry!

[upvc isn't very eco is it?]

by the way i'm not critising and well done finding new venue

Faux anything never really looks right esp stained glass on plastic windows? If its to keep a bit of privacy what about blinds?

noddyholder · 26/04/2008 09:54

www.brume.co.uk?

KatyMac · 26/04/2008 10:10

Gosh no -it's not about privacy - it's about branding

i want my logo on the front door

I agree it's not Eco - but I am at the stage that I will be as good as I can be - but cost is primary

in that case - ask the double glazing people cos you can get stained/coloured glass incorporated into the glazing panels - it would look much more professional plus if door is in direct sun the paints/films may well fade over time. DIY is cheaper though!
