Chunky cable knit jumper pattern recommendations

Hi all.

I’ve set my self a challenge, having never knitted a jumper before, to work my way up to knitting the arctic light sweater.

I've knitted other bits, but never a jumper before, so was looking for some good cable patterns, something quite chunky, which will knit up quite quickly, and sort of working my way up in difficulty.

Any recommendations please?

You might find something like a slipover/sweater vest a good start. The Arctic light is knitted top down which takes a bit of getting used to as well.
I would go for Aran weight for speed. Also look up cabling without a cable needle, if you can get the hang of this it really speeds things up.

Some really nice patterns there, I think starting with something sleeveless is a great idea, didn’t think of that!

Will also look up cables without cable needles, sounds impossible but sure all will become clear!

Maybe Hush by tincanknits if you fancy something with sleeves, they have great tutorials. And if you want a simple sleeveless top just to build up confidence, you can't go wrong with one of Nicola Susen's maximum freedom patterns like 1973 - any yarn and gauge.
