I'm thinking about blankets, throws, cushions etc. Really anything that would create warmth and texture and loveliness. Please share your ideas.

I've crocheted blankets, cushions and wall hangings which are used all year round, and I make some seasonal bits too. Currently making pumpkins and about to start a Christmas blanket CAL.
Attic 24 has some lovely patterns if you're looking for somewhere to start

Wow! That sounds great. I'll check out Attic 24 - thanks

I quilt, knit, cross-stitch, and diamond paint. I've knitted LOTS of afghans and made many, many quilts. My current favorite easy afghan pattern is a multiple of 20 stitches. Knit the first several rows to create an edge that won't roll, then knit 10, purl 10 across each of the next five rows. For the next 5, purl 10, then knit 10. Work this 10 row repeat until it's the length you want, then knit as many rows at the end as you did at the beginning. This will create a bit of a checkerboard look. Sometimes I buy planned yarn and everything coordinates, sometimes I just use up what I have and add a new ball of yarn wherever one ends.

I like free crochet, you don’t have to count whilst watching 🖥 in the evening, and the pieces can be quite small ( you sew them together at the end) . I made each of us a snuggle rug, I have several requests for cushions from male visitors who want something to give DW for Christmas etc. They pay for the wool which I choose.

I used to embroider (needlepoint) cushions, but we have too many now and my eyes find the little holes more straining. I also make placemats from fabric so we can have lots of different table settings.

I crochet.

I made a pumpkin for Halloween, several Christmas tree ornaments and this blanket:

I was going to say Attic24 too. My first big crochet project was her Cosy Stripe Blanket, which lives on my sofa, and Wool Warehouse do packs for several of her patterns.

My biggest project so far was a giant, mostly stripey blanket done to use up most of my stash, which is folded over the end of my bed. It’s not often cold enough for me to need it but it looks great & my cat loves sleeping on it / hiding under it.

I do, check out Laura Penrose designs. I knitted lovely cushions from her patterns and she has blankets and hot water bottles too

DatingDinosaur · 01/10/2024 21:12

I make coasters and cushions out of scrap fabric.

My most adventurous project yet is to make one of those quilted runner things that goes on the end of your bed, also using scrap fabric. It'll be my first foray into quilting.

I also love attic 24. I've made quite a few blankets over the years and just finishing my second big blanket this year which is a attic 24 sungold which I have adapted a bit. My dd crochets smaller things to sell and is speedier than me (she's 14!). I'd quite like to crochet a wall hanging next.

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 04/10/2024 19:04

My main things are cat blankets and baby blankets, as presents. And it does help that they’re quick!

Catsmere · 22/11/2024 01:05

Old thread, wonder if anyone's still looking ...

I've knitted a couple of bedspreads, a few cat blankets, a cushion cover, and a hanger for my circular needles.

This was my first go at mosaic crochet.

Thanks @OldyTheParrot!

I was glad I’d gone for cat size rather than human - there was a lot of frogging involved!

This was my first go at mosaic crochet.

Glad to see the recipient seems to like it!

My two just take over my bedspread. It was easy to make, just stockinette with moss edges. Don't think I had to frog any (it's about five years old). Have had to darn a couple of holes since ...

Oh, they’re gorgeous. What are their names? And I love the bedspread colours.

Kitty let me put it over her once but she prefers it draped over the side.

Thank you! They're Phoebe (grey tortie) and Daisy (grey and white).

That's a very tempting tum your beautiful Kitty is showing there, makes me want to smooch it.

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 22/11/2024 20:19

It’s highly smoochable. Especially at the moment while she’s growing her winter floof.

Soontobe60 · 22/11/2024 20:45

I crochet stuff.

That looks great. Mosaic crochet?

Doyouthinktheyknow · 22/11/2024 21:00

I crochet stuff too, mostly blankets. My house is littered with blankets and I give a lot away to friends and family.

I started with Attic 24, now I tend to gravitate towards more complex patterns. I love Sophie’s universe and all of Helen Shrimpton’s designs.

Where's a "love" button when we need it? ❤️🐱

I'm so inspired by the cat blankets

I'm so inspired by the cat blankets

I started doing them when I was fostering, each of my charges got a blanket to take to their new homes. Then Kitty turned up & I adopted her, so I’m mainly doing blankets for friends’ cats & babies now.

Bimblesalong · 23/11/2024 08:09

Attic24 is brilliant. I am obsessed by Janie Crow’s lovely patterns too and have won prizes at our village show!
