Simple but wearable jumper pattern for a beginner

Hi all,

Having only ever knitted scarves and mitts, I'd really like to try knitting a simple sweater. Can anyone recommend a nice pattern at all? I would ideally like one colour and not too baggy.

Many thanks in advance for any recommendations. X

Should come up with lots of ideas
Theres a really easy one called Brick

Ignore the last bit - brick is top down which isn’t a technique for beginners!

I'd look for a chunky wool pattern. Knits up fast and easy to spot mistakes. Kim Hargreaves has lovely designs. Rowan and Wool and the gang have some free patterns. I never use the wool on the pattern, Drops yarn is cheaper and good quality, I buy from wool warehouse.

I've knitted this 3 times as people keep asking for it. Wool and the gang have really good video clips for the techniques. I do it in Drops Paris, loads of colour choices and good value.
