Sewing beginner: patterns for making yoga/pilates pants?

I am a beginner but love sewing.

I did a day sewing course to learn the basics of how to use a sewing machine, then bought my own Janome and I have so far made things like curtains, cushions, bags & shortening/hemming trousers.

I would like to move to my first piece of clothing from scratch and what I really need is a pair of yoga/pilates pants to wear to my weekly classes.

I have some black stretchy fabric but anyone knows where I could find a suitable pattern/video to help me?

Avery leggings pattern from Helen’s Closet - excellent instructions for a beginner

That's amazing—sounds like you're off to a great start! Yoga or Pilates pants are a perfect next project, especially since you're already comfortable with stretchy fabric. I'd recommend starting with a simple pattern that includes an elastic waistband and minimal seams—great for beginners but still super wearable.
If you're looking for step-by-step help, I recently came across a guide that walks you through similar projects from start to finish, including working with knits and sewing activewear. You might find it helpful: https://threadwhisper.com — it’s full of sewing machine tutorials, beginner-friendly clothing patterns, and project ideas like yours. Could be just what you need for this next step!
Best of luck with the pants—and have fun sewing! 😊

I make leggings but I use an overlocker as it makes a proper stretch stitch.
