Spray glue?

I need some kind of adhesive to glue many small paper pieces to larger pieces of card, and a spray adhesive would be ideal as it needs to cover the pieces quickly, evenly and invisibly (the paper is slightly translucent, so lumps or patches of glue would show). The problem with spray adhesive is the force that it comes out of the can at - it creates enough of a draft that the pieces blow around and flip over so that glue gets on the wrong side. It would take far too long to do the pieces one at a time, plus they'd dry too quickly, as I need to have them all available with glue on at the same time so I can arrange them.

I've seen some spray glues that have a pump spray instead of an aerosol. Has anyone used one of these? Are they less forceful than the aerosol can? Do they still spray evenly? It's somewhat more expensive, and would need to be ordered, so I thought I'd look for reviews first.

I used to use spray glue for paper projects - what a nightmare it was!

I now use glue sticks (like Pritt Stick). I wasn't entirely convinced at first, but now I'm converted! It even works well with translucent ribbon and acetate.
