Sewing machine guru's out there? need urgent help!

what am i doing wrong? my sewing machine is doing something odd, it looks fine on the topside of what i'm sewing but underneath it looks like a birdsnet.

Have tried re-threading everything and starting again and what happens is it looks like the cotton underneath isnt sinking into the material (IYKWIM) but is just being laid on to it, then it goes all birds nesty again.

im trying to sew weed suppressent material which is woven plastic, quite slippery and thin-ish.

please help, need to get it done before DS wakes up !

You may have lost tension in the spool holder underneath. Try taking the spool out and reloading, making sure the thread is wound into the spool holder in the correct direction - or if the spool holder comes out, take it out and check it's normal (sometimes they have a little screw holding the side on, and that can come loose).

It could be the funny fabric too, so test on something more normal. One thing you could try is a different needle - odd fabrics sometimes need thicker or thinner needles or a special ball-pointed one.

thank you. will try that. although dont have any other needles !

It sounds ilke the tension might need adjusting

Or staple it or glue it?
