Preserving / protecting a cross stitch

Hi everyone, I have a cross stitch that I made for my Mum for Mother’s Day but sadly she died suddenly and I was unable to give it to her. I’d like to put it on her memorial rose but that would be outside so I’m looking for ideas of how I could protect / preserve it from the elements. I thought about a frame maybe but not sure if that would be enough. Any ideas would be most welcome. Thank you 😊

That’s a very important point, thank you.

Take a photo of it and have several printed. Put one in a frame, and when it fades or gets damp you can change it?
