Could someone please explain when the pattern states ending with ws row does that mean when I next pick up the new line will be the right side. Also should the rs face me or out to the room.
Thanks
Lumley

the former

Yes, if you end with a ws row then the next row you knit will be a rs row. Is that what you meant?
The right side will face you.

the right side is basically the first line you knit, then the wrong side is line 2 etc. the right side should look all smooth and neat and the wrong side is the side you waeve in odd bits of wool. if you end on wrong side (even rows)then the next line is the right side (odd rows)
what are you knitting?

thanks for the prompt replies. Ska I'm knitting a pull on hat for a baby which isn't due for quite a while yet and hopefully make the coat to match. Years ago I was taught knit and pearl and this one is rib and then a strange rib where i pick up a stitch from below which has took some mastering and I think it looks a bit like the pattern. It only has 37 sts so it isn't too daunting lol well just a bit.
this was the confusing part I done the rib for 6cm and it states ending with a ws row. Next row inc in 1st st rib to last st, inc in last st. change to 4mm needles and proceed as follows:- 1st Row (Rs) K1, P1 etc to end.

now thats where the confusion started with me if I ended on a ws row and then increased into the rs row how comes the first row of the pattern turned into the right side.

sorry I think I may have bamboozled myself more

Are you going to turn the first bit up for a brim? Then your brim is on the right side and the rest of the hat is too. Just a suggestion

agree with dutchoma - i think it now BECOMES the right side whereas it wasnt to start. btw. John Lewis and other shops often have an adviser on who really doesnt mind 'silly' questions - they are keen to addict you!

and you have sensibly given yourself lots of time. well done it is lovely to knit something for babies

Of course dutchoma you are right. the hat does have a turn up brim don't know why I didn't think about that. Ska I bought the wool at John lewis and did see a lady sitting knitting a beautiful jumper and there was a customer beside her didn't realise she was asn adviser. thanks to all who replied although I don't think it will be the last time I ask for help.
