I've finally completed my first cross stitch kit! Woo hoo! (Emily Peacock's Felicity the Lobster: https://www.emilypeacock.com/shop/fe) But I am now at a loss. How do I, as a numpty, turn her into a useable cushion? Not sure putting in a zip etc is within my capabilities!

Felicity the Lobster — Emily Peacock

Meet Felicity. She's a blue-blooded, attention-loving fashionista, who would love nothing better than to claw her way onto your sofa. For those of you that love a little quirkiness and colour in your home, she's the luxury worth shelling out for. This...

That's fab!
Perhaps buy a ready made cushion in a matching colour, (eg the pink or one of the blues) slightly larger than your piece of work. Then carefully overstitch your piece onto the cushion with a small border all around?
What does the edge of your piece look like, does it need hemming?

Or another idea is buy a suitably sized cushion pad. Make a simple bag with your piece and some matching fabric, fill with the cushion pad. Then hem the opening together, if you don't think you could fit a zip.

Have a look at this for a fastening idea.

You might need to create a border for your cross stitch depending on the size of your cushion

Ooooh, I love Emily Peacocks cross stitches!

she had a sheet in one with instructions on how to turn it into a cushion - just off to do the school run, but I’ll dig it out and send a photo if Mumsnet will let me!

Hi, no advice as I'm not a cross stitcher (yet,) but I love these, thanks for sharing! They look quite adventurous?
Youtube is surely your best friend here with regards turning your work into a cushion!
Well done! .

@BaleOfHay Have you thought of framing it, as it's such an eye-catching design?

An envelope back is probably simplest https://www.thesewingdirectory.co.uk/envelope-back-cushion-cover-tutorial/

@BaleOfHay here are the instructions she used to include in her kits.

I agree re envelope back.. As this will be a rectangular cushion you want to make the envelope so that the opening runs vertically down - the picture in the tutorial posted shows it running horizontally across the back of a square cushion.

I usually buy a ready made cushion and stitch it on.
