I’ve just come across “stitch and bitch” thread and was overwhelmed by the amount of people who all chat and discuss their hobby!
I don’t sew (although I wish I could) but I am an artist! I wonder if there is others who are also arty and crafty who might like to create a reoccurring thread?
Somewhere to share our art and discuss things like materials and such!?🤩

For example… I drew this colouring page today. Not something I usually do as I’m more of a realism artist / children’s book illustrator… but was fun to make!

I’m up for this @PoliteTurtle Do you have a medium of choice?

I mainly use watercolour and pen & ink myself, but have dabbled with lots of different things. I’ve not done much recently and am feeling a bit rusty, but I have a sketching holiday coming up in March, which I’m really excited about! I got my DH into urban sketching last year, so we’ll do a bit of that as well as all the usual sightseeing.

Biggest question is though, what colours am I going to put on my palette? I could (and have) literally spent hours thinking about that 😂

Yay Hello!😁 I usually use gouache and coloured pencil, but I also have dabbled in lots of different mediums and often flit back and forth depending on what I fancy making!

Ohhh i sketching holiday! That sounds great! My DH is a musician but enjoys urban sketching too when I convince in to join in with me 🤭

Oh you know, I think colour choosing is the most difficult part of my whole process 😭 so many choices I get overwhelmed!

Wouldn't call myself an artist but I have joined a class and am really enjoying it. I particularly like coloured pencils. Don't get on terribly well with paint but have just discovered I really like oil pastels.

I'm probably an intruder because I'm not an artist but I did pick up a pencil for the first time since I was 15(over 20 years ago Shock) just before Christmas.

I'm not really sure where I'm going with it yet or what mediums I like best or even what I like to draw but I'm enjoying the journey. I've mainly just been using a pen and pencil but recently bought some watercolours so I'm going to try them out a bit more but I'm not going to lie I'm a bit intimidated by them.

Here's a pic of something I drew last weekend, there are so many things I don't like about it but my new years resolution was to be bolder and I've never shown anything I've drawn to anyone but my husband who has been around when I'm drawing so I'm being brave and posting it 😂

Everyone is an artist really! I’m so glad you’re enjoying your classes 🤩 I’ve tried oil pastels but they weren’t for me, feel free to post any work if you feel comfortable to!🩷

You should be incredibly proud of that drawing! For a beginner (although I hate that term) the proportions and depth you’ve added is amazing! You’ve got an eye for it, I can tell!! I do pet portraits for a living 😄 Not that I particularly enjoy drawing dogs, but it pays!

@PoliteTurtle I'm really interested in joining. Love all arts and crafty things.
I'm really into ink and watercolour at the moment. Love photography as well. Got into making paper stars at Christmas.

I saw writing called "book arts" recently. so I've got that. I'm also about to learn to knit and maybe do some embroidery.

Love this. I don't sew although I'm determined to drag my sewing machine out and use it this year. I paint, draw, use epoxy resin, make things, mess about trying different techniques.

Hello to you all 😄 I’m so happy there are others on here that also are arty and crafty! Feel free to add pics if you like - I might start the first thread next Tuesday and do it each Tuesday if that is okay with you all? ☺️ (I’m on holidays at the mo so not too much art going on, but I have visited a wool shop and have started a crochet cardigan 🤭)

Hope you're enjoying your holiday. Love going into art and craft type shops and could spend hours in them.
Tuesdays thread sounds awesome.

@HazelSheep - that is excellent. Pugs are really tough to draw. You've done a super job.

This is a pic done with coloured pencils. I am pleased with it. Took absolutely ages though! But I don't mind art taking ages as it becomes rather meditative.

This is incredible! And I happen to love snails. I like to get photos of them out on the old London walls right after it rains. They are so cute.

Ooh, some lovely creations already!

@HazelSheep watercolour isn’t anything near as intimidating as it looks. It’s an odd medium, as to master it takes decades, but even “technically rubbish” water colours can look good. I’m definitely still in the technically rubbish phase myself 😂

Lovely snail drawing @Cranarc. A snail is quite an appropriate subject for coloured pencil I think. It definitely requires a lot of patience as a medium.

I’ve not done anything arty this weekend, except scout out a few urban sketching locations for when the weather warms up a bit. Oh and I spent some more time deciding what paints to take with me on holiday. Think I’ve got my final selection sorted. Also ordered a new sketchbook 😊
