hi there!

my dd is 7 months old and we dont have a soft/good area for her to play. my dh thought of buying a rug to use just when we want her to 'stretch'. we have a dog too, so its not something we could leave on the floor permanently. but rugs are expensive, even the ikea ones, and it wouldnt be easy to clean/wipe it.

then we thought of those interlocking abc/number thing. like this one:

what do you think? im all ears for suggestions

A big blanket or throw should be sufficient. you can shove it in the washing machine if it gets dirty.
Once she's crawling she won't stay on it anyway.

We had some of the foam interlocking pieces and DD used to bite at them - luckily she never bit any of it off.

I've just made a large padded quilt specifically for this purpose for a friend - here on my blog but an old duvet with cover would serve the same purpose

we used the foam mats but more successfully an old duvet as it was easy to wash.

I had a fleece blanket. Rolled up small, easy to wash but generous size.

but isnt the duvet/blanket going to frustrate her? she is 'shuffling' at the moment, and i thought if the surface is slippery, it will not help her. what you think?
