Christmas baubles with two holes for threading

Am looking for a way to basically make this
Can't just buy it as shipping from USA is insane
It looks simple if you have baubles with two holes or drillable ? But wouldn't most baubles shatter ?
Please help , have limited craft skill set but open to learn !
Also want silver and blue !

I would have thought you could drill plastic baubles with a thin drill or even maybe melt a hole with a hot skewer.
