Home made playdough

Hi, I've just made some playdough, exactly following the instructions written by an art teacher, but the mixture is too sticky. I'm not sure if it's because it's still a bit warm? Should I add more flour? Where did I go wrong? I hate it when you try and be wholesome and do things like this and it doesn't turn out right.

policywonk, you almost made me feel better but as I never had a woman in Waitrose swear blind that tartare sauce and cream of tartar were the same thing, I only have myself to blame.

Barbamma, you also almost made me feel better but I think you actually have to waste half hour trying to make the playdough with tartare sauce, pick out the gherkins and capers, and wonder why it stinks so much in order to qualify.

80smum, thanks for the link. I was actually quite disgusted when I saw it. I mean how misleading can it be? There's no cream about it! I'm telling you, there are evil people out there, the ones that make up stupid names for things, that are having a laugh at my expense!

thanks for the thread, just what I needed this morning, have 4 children of various ages to entertain today, and this will be perfect.

It makes a lovely huge pile of playdoh, pink and vanilla flavour in our case. I was worried about the lumps in the pan at one point, but they soon disappear.
